Do you work in aged care, hospitality or food and beverage and need the skills to manage the organisation’s approach to food safety? The SITSS00069 Food Safety Supervision Skill Set is a nationally recognised skill set that will teach you how to keep food safe for human consumption during preparation, storage, display, and service. It's suitable for managers, owner-operators or supervisors in tourism, hospitality, and catering, who have small or large food-preparation facilities. It includes the accredited units needed to demonstrate your competency in food-safety supervision which became enforceable from 8 December 2023. You’ll also learn safe food handling practices that comply with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. You will learn how to: • monitor and record food hazards • understand organisational food safety programs, procedures and documents. • monitor food safety techniques • minimise the risks of food contamination. In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the SITSS00069 Food Safety Supervision Skill Set, a student must successfully undertake the following accredited unit(s): • SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety; and • SITXFSA006 Participate in safe food handling practices. To undertake this course you will need to be employed or working as a volunteer and/or have access to a food business workplace where they are preparing food to complete the assessment requirements within their work environment. If you do not have an active workplace you will need to speak with your Lecturer about options for completing the practical assessment. If you are undertaking this course online you will have 12 weeks to submit all assessment components (knowledge and practical) to your lecturer from the date of enrolment. For organisations that wish to pay the student fees for this course, including large group bookings, and are unable to pay by credit card via the website, please contact the Short Course team via email on shortcourses@tafesa.edu.au to organise a Third Party Payment invoice.
